New Te Maire Bridge.

The New Te Maire Bridge replaces the old one which no longer exists, except that the piers are still standing. The old one was replaced about the end of the 1950s.

This bridge carries a side road which branches off SH 43 (Taumarunui to Stratford highway) at about 17.5 km downstream from Taumarunui.

There are no more bridges over the Whanganui River until you get to just above Jerusalem, where there is a derelict swing bridge that was used by a farmer
